The Youth Speak Forum 2024, an initiative powered by GRI Education and hosted by AIESEC in Sri Lanka, gathered young minds and influential leaders to address the crucial topic of mental health and well-being. This event, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially Goal 3.4: Good Health and Well-being, sought to inspire and mobilize the youth to advocate for improved mental health practices and support systems in their communities.

Inaugural Session by Mr. Hasintha Hewawasam

The forum was started with an inspiring opening session led by Mr. Hasintha Hewawasam, a Psychological Counselor and Mentor. Hasintha set an enthusiastic tone for the day. His speech emphasized the importance of mental health awareness and highlighted the pivotal role of youth in cultivating a supportive environment for those dealing with mental health issues.

Her sessions focused on practical techniques such as asanas (yoga postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), and meditation, offering participants tools for immediate relief and long-term mental resilience.

Engaging Youth Delegates

Interactive sessions saw enthusiastic participation from school students and undergraduates, who engaged in discussions on various aspects of mental health. These sessions provided a safe space for young delegates to share their experiences, perspectives, and concerns regarding mental health challenges. Facilitators encouraged open dialogue and small group discussions, fostering an exchange of ideas and practical solutions.

GRI Education Consultancies set up informative stalls throughout the forum, engaging participants and providing valuable resources related to education and career guidance. These stalls served as information hubs where delegates, including school students and undergraduates, could explore educational opportunities, scholarships, and counseling services offered by GRI Education Consultancies.

By bringing together diverse perspectives and fostering an environment of open dialogue, the Youth Speak Forum successfully empowered young people to become advocates for mental health and well-being in their communities.
