Ministry of Education has announced the details of the Christmas, Exam & April holidays for government schools on the island.
- Christmas Holidays
- From 23rd to 26th December (All schools)
- A/L Exam Holidays
- From 3rd February to 3rd March 2022 (Except primary sections)
- New Year Holidays
- From 09th to 17th April 2022 (Sinhala & Tamil schools)
- Ramadan Holidays
- From April 01st to May 03rd (Muslim schools)

The Ministry has also confirmed the examination dates for A/L, O/L & Grade 5 scholarships.

- On the 22nd of January 2022
- GCE A/L
- From February 7th to March 5th, 2022
- GCE O/L
- From May 23rd to June 1st, 2022
