Abhina is the flagship entertainment event organized by the Department of Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering (ENTC), University of Moratuwa,representing the country’s best minds who are exceptional in academics. This is highly reputed as a grand drama festival at the University of Moratuwa that brings significant classical comedy and laughter to the academically exhausted minds in the university.
In addition, this also features dances and songs to intensify the vibe brought up by excellent dramas. Abhina therefore serves as the best event to showcase hidden creative talents inside genius minds at ENTC, which includes undergraduates as well as academic staff. In 2025, Abhina will be proudly organized, continuing its tradition, as one of the most prestigious events at the University of Moratuwa, deserving a full house of audience.
The most recent chapter of this event, Abhina ’23, was successfully held on the 10th of October 2023 at the Civil Engineering Auditorium, based on the theme of the traditional Sri Lankan belief “Thovil,” where the decorations, backdrop, oil lamp, and almost every detail were creatively designed. Abhina ’23 was graced by our chief guest Mr. Janak Premalal, a famous actor in Sri Lanka. The enthusiasm of the brightest technical minds in the country in raising aesthetic talents and creativity to bring mental relaxation to the community was highly appreciated.
Abhina symbolizes the unity and collaboration of all batches currently in the department,and this time the combined efforts of 21st, 22nd, 23rd and 24 th batches will set the Abhina’25 on fire and will light up all the hearts through unstoppable creativity, energy, and passion. It is scheduled to be held on the 8th October, 2025 at the Civil Engineering Auditorium where tradition meets creativity, and laughter becomes timeless through the next level of classical comedy.
Abhina’25 will be organized based on the theme ‘Deck of cards’ and just like hearts, spades,diamonds, and clubs among kings, queens, and jokers, this event is about to shuffle the innovation and imagination to highlight the unique individual talents at ENTC,ultimately bringing humorous and extraordinary performances to the stage. Also, Abhina’25 will truly unveil the mystery behind numbers and circuits to witness laughter and artistry where each and every card will be on display.
