Youth From Over 100 Nations to Gather in Sri Lanka for AIESEC International Congress 2025
After three decades, Sri Lanka is set to become the heart of a global youth movement yet again.
In July 2025, Sri Lanka will proudly host the 77th AIESEC International Congress, welcoming over 400 young leaders from more than 100 countries to the sunny shores of Citrus Hotel, Waskaduwa. This international gathering is more than just a conference—it’s a celebration of cultures, ideas, and the collaboration of like-minded individuals striving to achieve peace and fulfill humankind’s potential.
Founded in 1948, AIESEC is the world’s largest youth-run organization, dedicated to developing leadership potential in young people through international volunteering and internship experiences. With a presence in over 105 countries and territories, and over 40,000 active members, AIESEC has been instrumental in shaping socially responsible leaders committed to making a positive impact on society..
A Global Platform With a Local Heart
The International Congress is where AIESEC’s global leaders gather to shape the future, crafting strategies, building partnerships, and sparking ideas for a more peaceful and purposeful world. It is a space for collaboration, learning, and inspiration—and in 2025, all of that will unfold on Sri Lankan soil.
But beyond that, it’s a chance to show the world what Sri Lanka truly is, a country rich in hospitality, diversity, and untold stories.
Through a powerful mix of physical events and digital campaigns, more than a million people worldwide will experience the magic of Sri Lanka. From it’s culture and cuisine to it’s breathtaking landscapes and resilient spirit, the International Congress will be a window into the heart of this beautiful island nation.
Adding to the grandeur of the experience, several renowned Sri Lankan celebrities and influential figures will take on the role of Ambassadors of IC 2025. Icons such as Umaria Sinhawansa, Stephanie Siriwardena, Sachini Ayendra, Ridma Weerawardena, Bathiya and Santhush, Kishu Gomes, and Kasthuri Chellarajah are expected to be part of the Congress, bringing with them inspiration, talent, and the vibrant spirit of Sri Lanka to the international stage.
A Week of Experiences That Matter
Throughout the congress, which will span over 9 days from the 5th to the 13th of July, a series of signature events will give delegates a full-circle experience:
The Opening Ceremony will offer delegates a powerful welcome into the heart of Sri Lanka, filled with traditional performances, music, and the energy of a nation proud to host the world.
At the Global Village, cultures from over 100 countries will come alive. Delegates will share their food, dances, customs, and stories, turning the space into a celebration of both diversity and unity.
The YouthSpeak Forum will focus on the future of work, centered around the theme of decent work and economic growth (SDG #8) and will provide a platform to network with youth and discuss the future of work. This impactful forum will feature global leaders from renowned multinational companies like DHL, Electrolux, Electrolux Food Foundation, TCS, PwC, and Henkel, sharing ideas and discussing how to shape a better working world.
Sri Lankan Night will be a showcase of everything that makes this island unique. Delegates will experience authentic cuisine, cultural performances, and the warmth of local traditions that reflect the real Sri Lanka.
Through the World’s Largest Lesson, delegates will step into selected schools in the country to educate school students about the Sustainable Development Goals. It’s an opportunity to share global perspectives with local students and inspire the next generation to take action in their own communities.
Gala Night is a celebration of excellence and impact. In partnership with a global brand, this awards ceremony will recognise the outstanding contributions of AIESEC entities from around the world. It’s a night to honour the people, the progress, and the shared purpose that brings this global community together.
These are the moments that will turn IC 2025 into something unforgettable—moments delegates will remember for years to come.
More Than an Event: A Ripple of Change
The impact of the International Congress will extend far beyond Waskaduwa’s conference halls.
For Sri Lanka’s tourism, it’s a spotlight moment. The Congress places Sri Lanka on the map as a premier destination for MICE tourism (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), inviting the world to look beyond its scenic coastlines and discover the island’s rich history, culture, and hospitality. Delegates and often their families will travel, experience, and spread the word.
For Sri Lankan youth, it is a golden opportunity. Being part of this congress offers exposure to global ideas, cross-cultural friendships, and a firsthand glimpse into what leadership and collaboration looks like at a global level. It’s an opportunity to learn, to lead, and to dream on a larger canvas.
And for Sri Lanka as a nation, this is more than a milestone; it’s a statement to the world. It shows that Sri Lanka isn’t just a beautiful place to visit, but a country ready to lead global conversations and bring young people together for something bigger than themselves. It’s a chance to build deeper connections with countries working toward the same global goals, and to shine a light on the incredible potential that lives here. This island, rich in history and heart, is stepping forward, not just as a host, but as a home for youth-led change.
As the countdown to 2025 begins, one thing is certain: Sri Lanka isn’t just hosting a conference, it’s welcoming the future
